"Perhaps of greatest import, The Avanti Trio does not skimp on that noblest facet of musical expression: Passion. It may sound like a throw-away comment; a given. But, passion is surprisingly absent from many chamber ensembles, who seem at the end of their rendering to be simply relieved that they each surmounted the challenges for their instrument and stayed together as an ensemble. But for The Avanti Trio, there were moments of great pathos, moments of great joy, and the gamut in between. Had Barber and Brahms themselves been in attendance, they would surely have been pleased. In short, The Avanti Trio operated at a high level of performance in all ways.
